Uprooted Vegan Cuisine: Jenn’s Custom Horse Trailer for a Business Built Around Plants

A seasonal menu, a commitment to local farmers, and a horse trailer with a new purpose. For Jenn Kraus of Uprooted Vegan Cuisine, those pieces come together in a mobile food business with a personality all its own.

At The Hudson Trailer Company, we worked with Jenn on a custom horse trailer conversion for Uprooted. Her project brought a distinctive setting to a business already centered on creative food and the people who enjoy it.

Jenn is the founder and head chef of Uprooted Vegan Cuisine, serving the Central Savannah River Area around Augusta, Georgia, and Aiken, South Carolina. Her offerings include a changing weekly meal menu, custom catering, cakes, and desserts, with gluten-free options and accommodations for dietary needs. Seasonal ingredients and support for local farmers help shape what she makes. Meet Jenn and learn about Uprooted.

The name carries a personal story, too. Originally from Western New York, Jenn and her family moved to Aiken to support her daughter’s education. That experience of putting down roots somewhere new became part of Uprooted’s identity.

A mobile business gives that identity a physical presence. Customers encounter the colors, materials, and serving space alongside the food. For Jenn’s trailer, those details were part of the conversation from the beginning.

Her selected palette paired an exterior matched to Benjamin Moore’s Ocean Air with a Gardenia interior. Old Navy was chosen for the lower cabinetry, while Canyon Brown stain brought warmth to the wood counters and trim. Together, the selections created a combination of pale color, deep blue, and natural wood.

These are the decisions that make a custom food trailer feel personal. The exterior introduces the business before a customer orders. Inside, the finishes become part of the space the owner works in, prepares for service, and returns to after an event.

The process matters just as much as those finished details. During Jenn’s project, we exchanged design selections, confirmed colors, and shared progress and completion photographs. Her feedback, published in our client portfolio, captures what she valued:

“Excellent communication and pictures of each step along the way. Couldn’t be happier with the end result.”

For anyone considering a horse trailer conversion or custom mobile food business, Jenn’s project offers a useful starting point: think about the business you want customers to recognize, then plan the space around the work you need to do.

Begin with your menu, equipment, storage, and service needs. Consider where you expect to operate and how customers will approach the serving area. Those practical decisions give the design direction; the colors, materials, and branding help make it your own.

At The Hudson Trailer Company, we design and fabricate custom mobile businesses in Jacksonville, Florida, for clients across the country. Our work includes food trailers, coffee trailers, mobile bars, and vintage vehicle conversions, with layouts and finishes developed around each project.
